One category that seems to be picking up in popularity lately is that of prop replicas. In the past prop replicas were shelved to high quality pieces with a high pricetag, and an item that sat on a display base. Slowly these adult collector role play items began to gain more functionality and become more than just display pieces. Force FX Lightsabers by Master Replicas really did a great job of bridging that gap and giving collectors a quality high end display product that you could also interact with and have with.

This year we are seeing the release of two pretty popular prop replicas that both have quite the devoted fanbase: Mattel's Back to the Future 2 Hoverboard and the Aperture Science Handheld Portable Device by NECA Toys. Both items seem to be going that extra mile to bring the right amount of love and authenticity to the fans and collectors, as well as the extra bells and whistles of functionality of sounds and lights. There are always quite a few prop replicas that are being released each year by a multitude of companies, so fans have many choices when looking in this space.
